The Dalmatian coast: Where the Balkans Meet the Mediterranean
April 28th-May 7th, 2018 | Maximum Group Size: 15 Participants | Availability: Open
The beauty of the rugged sea shore, backed by mountains- the Adriatic Dalmatian Coast is one of Europe’s best-kept secrets. Starting in Dubrovnik with its wealth of heritage in the arts and culture, we will then travel north to explore the ancient cities of: Split, which lies within the walls of the Palace of Diocletian built between 295 and 305 AD; Zadar, the ancient capital of Byzantine Dalmatia with its many architectural styles; to Opatija, originally a small fishing village turned into a retreat for nobility of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Come explore where Balkan history and the warmth of the Mediterranean people and climate meet to make, as George Bernard Shaw once remarked, “the Pearl of the Adriatic”.
