Destination Highlight: Spain
Spain has much to tempt the traveler who wants to avoid the beaten track. Whether you are a hiker, historian, or food worshiper, you
won’t be disappointed by the variety of topography and culture in Spain. Whether it's the lush wheat fields dotted with poppies along the Camino de Santiago, slow-roasted lamb in Mallorca, the beautiful mosaic intricacy in the Alcazar, Seville, or revelling in the romantic beauty of flamenco dancers, these are all things that are easily accessible in Spain. Don't miss out on one of the wonderful Spanish offerings we have this year:
Barcelona & Mallorca
April 17th-26th, 2018
We begin in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, and we’ll spend our days exploring the very heart of the city from her outstanding museums and architecture, to her exciting nightlife. We conclude the trip with a 4-night stay on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, which provides a welcome change of pace as we explore hidden villages and monasteries, winding lanes and quiet corners. From the mountains of the northwest to the fertile central plain, there is an abundance of historical and artistic treasure to occupy the discerning visitor.
The Pilgrim's Way
May 3rd-12th, 2018
Explore the ancient route of the Camino de Santiago in northwest Spain. Also known as The Pilgrim’s Way or Way of St. James, it has been traveled on foot by those seeking redemption since AD 1085. Starting in Bilboa, we will stay in hotels right along the path to get an idea of what life is like walking the Camino. With visits including the beautiful stained glass cathedral in Leon, The Bishop’s Palace in Astorga, and Cebreiro, a traditional Galician mountain settlement with pallozas (thatched houses), we will wind our way to Santiago where present day pilgrims celebrate the end to their 500 mile journey, with swollen feet and big smiles.
